Fullerton Comes Up Short in Game Two at Hawaii

HONOLULU – Cal State Fullerton dropped game two at Hawaii by a final score of 4-2 Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium. With the loss the Titans are now 16-37 on the year and 7-22 in Big West play.

Hawaii struck first in game two of the series, scoring two runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead.

Fullerton quickly answered with one run in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Alijah Ramos to bring home Eli Lopez from second base.

The Rainbow Warriors scored two runs in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 4-1.

Peyton Jones gave the Titans a strong start in his final collegiate appearance. Jones gave up four earned runs on five hits in 5.2 innings pitched while not issuing a walk and striking out three batters.

The Titans scored one run in the ninth inning on a fielding error by Hawaii that allowed Jakob Schardt to score. Maddox Latta still earned an RBI on the play because it would have been a run-scoring fielder's choice. Fullerton was unable to continue a ninth inning rally after scoring a run with one out.

The Titans are back at Les Murakami Stadium Saturday for the final game of the 2024 season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PT.
