Titans Post Five Podium Finishes on Final Day at Steve Scott

IRVINE, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton outdoor track and field posted five podium finishes Saturday on the final day of competition at the Steve Scott Invitational.

Donovan Garcia notched the Titans' lone event win of the day, finishing first in the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 53.76. Teammate Zachary Schroeder finished eighth in the event with a 55.82. Reigning Big West men's 100m champion John Clifford earned silver in the 100m Saturday, clocking a time of 10.44. 

In the women's 100m, Tayla Brunger also finished second after running an 11.75. Brooklyn Davis placed seventh in the race with an 11.92. Carissa Martinez earned bronze in the women's high jump after clearing 1.61m. Dannette Haygood also placed third in the women's triple jump, notching a mark of 11.81m. 

Fullerton posted strong results in the men's and women's 200m, as Rayann Booker led the women's side with a fourth-place finish and a time of 24.66. Brunger followed in eighth with a 24.79. Clifford ran a 21.53 and finished fourth in the men's 200m, while Conner Thomas followed in 11th with a 21.89. Chris Goode took 12th with a time of 21.91. 

Five different Titans placed in the top-20 in the women's shot put, led by Teresa Chang. Chang finished sixth in the event after throwing for a mark of 14.05m. Sahira Lepes-Sanchez took 10th with a 12.39m. 

Fullerton is back in action next weekend with a pair of meets. The Titans will host the Titan Tune-Up on Friday, May 3, at the Titan Track Complex. Men's decathlete Andrew Aguilar will also participate in the Big West Multi Championships May 3-4 in San Luis Obispo, where he will look to win a third consecutive conference title in the decathlon.
