SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's water polo team dropped their final road contest of the regular season 10-3 against No. 15 UC Santa Barbara at the Santa Barbara High School pool.
The Titans fell to 10-17 overall and 1-5 in Big West play. Â
Destiny Hernandez led the Titans with two goals and her 11th multi-goal game of the season.Â
Mikka Von Scherr also got on the scoresheet, scoring her second goal of the season.Â
Annabelle Sherman made 13 saves for her 11th game with double-digit saves.Â
Haden Skye Bates played the final four minutes of the game and made one save. Â
Neither side had much offense in the first half with the Gauchos scoring twice in the first quarter and once in the second quarter to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. Â
In the third quarter, UCSB scored three goals to start the period and open up a 7-0 lead. Â
Destiny Hernandez was able to break the Gauchos shutout with 3:30 left in the third to make it a 7-1 game.
The Gauchos scored again to make it 8-1 before
Destiny Hernandez found her second goal of the game on a shot that snuck by the Gauchos keeper.
The Gauchos scored twice in the fourth quarter, while
Mikka Von Scherr was also able to find the back of the net for the Titans.
The Titans will host No. 17 UC Davis for their final home game and final game of the regular season before the Big West tournament begins next week. Before the game, the Titans will honor their ten seniors in a pregame ceremony. Â
