Titans Defeat Cal Poly at Home

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's tennis team began a five game home stand to finish out the regular season with a 4-3 comeback win over Cal Poly on Friday afternoon at the Titan Courts.

The Titans (12-7, 4-3 BWC) match was originally scheduled for Sunday but was moved up to Friday so the match could be played in front of the upcoming inclement weather expected over the weekend.

The Titans had to play from behind after dropping the doubles point against Cal Poly.  The Mustangs were able to win the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.  The Titans No. 1 pairing of Josie Usereau and Sein Myoung were leading 5-4 before their match was abandoned.

In singles, Cal Poly jumped to a 2-1 lead after winning the No. 5 doubles in straight sets.  The Titans got their first point of the match in No. 4 singles as Natalie Duffy won in three sets 6-0, 2-6, 6-3.  The Titans tied the match after Seha Yu won in No. 3 singles 6-2, 2-6, 6-0.  Cal Poly went ahead 3-2 after another three set match in No. 6 singles.  However, the Titans were able to win the final two matches in No. 1 and No. 2 singles.  Josie Usereau won her No. 1 singles match 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2).  Sein Myoung secured the match point in No. 2 singles after winning 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1

The Titans will take on No. 53 UC Santa Barbara tomorrow at 9:30 am with inclement weather expected later in the afternoon.  It will be the Titans penultimate Big West conference match up before next Sunday's finale against UC Irvine.
