FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton outdoor track and field broke four school records and posted ten event wins to highlight day two of the Ben Brown Invite Saturday at home.
The Titans' men's 4x100m relay team was the first to set a new school record Saturday, clocking a time of 39.24 to win the event. The team, built of Alonzo Floriolli, Abel Jordan, Dominic Gates and Ian Dossman, also set a new Big West and meet record with its time. It is also the fastest time in the NCAA so far this season.
Joshua Hornsby set a school record in the men's 110m hurdles after running a 13.69. His time is also the fastest in the NCAA so far this season. He won the event while Andrew Aguilar placed seventh with a 14.56.
Jordan posted a school record in the men's 100m with a time of 10.30 to win the event. The mark is the fastest in the NCAA so far this season. Floriolli followed in second with a 10.38 while Dossman took third with a 10.39. Gates finished fifth with a 10.48.
Dossman set the fourth and final school record for the Titans Saturday in the men's 200m, running a 20.70 to win the event. His time is also the fastest in the NCAA so far this season.
Other event winners included Jahzara Davis, who won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.49. Mariah Stewart followed in second with a 14.19 while Ileen Emerson claimed fifth with a time of 14.26.
Trinity Barnett claimed gold in the women's 100m, posting a time of 11.61. Rayann Booker ran an 11.95 to place fifth and Aryianna Faircloth took eighth with a 12.02. Alyssa Heinlein finished first in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.90 while Mia Reid followed in second with a 1:01.74.
In the men's high jump, Shallamar Poole finished first after clearing a height of 2.11m. Marcus Monroe and Jeff Morris finished 10th and 11th, respectively, after posting a 1.96m clearance. Fullerton's final individual event winner of the day was Donovan Garcia, who won gold in the men's 400m hurdles after running a 52.89. Zachary Schroeder followed in sixth with a 56.12.
The Titans' men's 4x400m relay squad also won gold with a time of 3:10.58. The team, composed of Reyte Rash, Chris Goode, Isaiah Emerson and Maleik Pabon, defeated second-place Riverside City College by nearly six seconds.
Evalen Garcia finished in second in the women's shot put after throwing a mark of 14.24m. Teresa Chang placed fourth with a 13.88m. Trinity Barnett also took silver in the women's 200m, running a 23.99.
Up next, the Titans remain home next week to host the Challenge Cup on Friday, Mar. 15.
