Titans Shine at Home in Ben Brown Invitational and AstroAi Distance Classic

FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton outdoor track and field enjoyed a series of strong performances Friday on day one of its home opening Ben Brown Invitational and AstroAi Distance Classic. 

Rahsaan Dozier was the Titans' lone event champion Friday, posting a mark of 7.31m in the men's long jump to claim gold. Camren Willis, Andrew Cornthwaite and Marcus Monroe Jr. all followed Dozier with top-10 finishes in the event. Faour Iyasere placed sixth to highlight the Titans' women's long jump showing. 

Jonathan Pfieffer claimed silver in the men's 1500m as part of Friday's AstroAi Distance Classic, racing a time of 3:52.39. The time is No. 8 all time in program history. Three Titans notched top-10 program times in the men's 5000m, led by Marco Perez who clocked a 14:21.18 (No. 5 all time) to place sixth. Nathaniel Avila and Justin Singer ran the seventh and eighth fastest times, respectively, in program history. Avila clocked a 14:31.11 to place 11th in the race and Singer a 14:33.18 to take 15th. 

Dylan Beveridge placed second in the women's pole vault after clearing a mark of 3.68m. On the men's side, Andrew Aguilar also claimed silver in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.77m. Aguilar also placed fifth in the men's javelin, throwing for 47.85m. Catherine Dahlberg earned a fifth place finish in the women's javelin after posting a mark of 33.62m. 

Natalia Delgado led the Titans in the women's hammer throw, earning a mark of 49.47m. Evalen Garcia followed with a 48.25m to take 10th. Justice Mephors threw for a 50.72 on the men's side, finishing eighth. 

Mia Bergman paced Fullerton's women's distance runners with a sixth place finish in the 5000m, clocking a 16:37.70. Grace Goldsworthy also finished sixth in the women's 800m with a time of 2:13.86. Olivia Ruiz finished 12th in the 1500m after running a 4:36.04 while Nanette Novak followed close behind in 13th place, clocking a 4:36.97. 

The Titans return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Mar. 9 for the second and final day of the Ben Brown Invitational.
