SAN DIEGO – Cal State Fullerton Baseball dropped its midweek matchup to San Diego by a final score of 13-5 Tuesday night at Fowler Park. The Titans are now 8-15 on the year after the loss.
Fullerton fell behind 4-0 in the first inning after San Diego hit a grand slam. The Titans walked two batters while giving up one base hit to load the bases prior to the home run.
The Titans got on the board in the top of the third inning on a two-run home run by Waldie Perez, the first home run of his career.
Fullerton cut San Diego's lead to 4-3 with one run in the fourth inning. Moises Guzman led-off the inning with a walk before stealing second to get into scoring position. Guzman then scored on a bunt single by Draven Nushida that ended in a throwing error by the Toreros.
San Diego blew the game open with nine runs in the sixth inning on six hits and two Fullerton errors.
The Titans came back to score two runs in the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly by Jakob Schardt and an RBI double by Eli Lopez.
Fullerton returns to Goodwin Field this weekend for a three-game conference series against Cal Poly. Game one of the series is set for Thursday night at 6:00 p.m.
