LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's water polo team opened up their Big West slate with a 12-4 loss against No. 7 Long Beach State at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center.
The Titans scored four goals against one of the best sides in the Big West conference with
Madelyn Halva,
Destiny Hernandez,
Taylor Mason, and
Lacey Hall all getting onto the scoresheet. Â
Annabelle Sherman made 13 saves in the cage for the Titans.
Long Beach jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter before Halva scored the first Titans goal for the game. The Beach scored one more in the quarter to make it a 4-1 game after one period.
Long Beach scored the first three goals of the second period to open up a 7-1 lead. Â However, the Titans were able to score two goals before the period ended with Hernandez scoring and
Taylor Mason scoring right before time expired in the first half to make it 7-3.
Long Beach scored twice in the third period before
Lacey Hall got one goal for the Titans to make it 9-4.
The Beach scored three unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to seal the 12-4 victory.
The Titans will face the highest ranked side in the Big West next week at No. 4 the University of Hawai'i. The Titans will then return home for three straight games after being on the road for five straight weeks.
