Titans Complete Second Day at Barbara Kalbus Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's water polo team completed their second day at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational.  They lost against No. 8 Michigan to start the day, 14-4 before falling to No. 13 Indiana in their second match of the day.

In the Titans first game of the day, the Titans lost against the No. 8 Michigan Wolverines 14-4.

Michigan jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first minute.  The Titans finally got their first goal back with 4:42 left in the first quarter when Shyanne Rainey put one into the net for the Titans.  Michigan scored three unanswered goals to finish the quarter and led 6-1 after one.

The Wolverines added four more in the second quarter and held the Titans scoreless and led 10-1 at halftime.

The Titans added one goal in the third as Shyanne Rainey scored her second goal of the game to make it 10-2.  Michigan added a goal late with 17 seconds left in the quarter and led 11-2 after three quarters.

The Titans added two more goals in the fourth while the Wolverines also scored three.  Destiny Hernandez and Delaney Wilder scored for the Titans in the fourth quarter.

Annabelle Sherman played the first three quarters and made six saves and tallied one steal.  Alexys Puche made three saves in the final quarter.

In the Titans second game of the day, the Titans lost against the No. 13 Indiana Hoosiers 15-5.

Indiana jumped to a 5-0 lead to start the first quarter before Shyanne Rainey got one back for the Titans right before the period ended to make it a 5-1 game.

In the second quarter, the Hoosiers scored six times and led 11-1 at the halftime break.

In the third quarter, Eden Tal and Taylor Mason scored for the Titans to make it an 11-3 game.  The Hoosiers got a goal with 11 seconds left to push their advantage back to 12-3 at the end of the third.

In the fourth quarter, the Hoosiers scored three times in the first two minutes to open up a 15-3 lead.  The Titans got a goal back by Shyanne Rainey to make it 15-4.  Alexys Puche made a last second shot to make it a 15-5 game at the conclusion.

Annabelle Sherman made seven saves in the cage and Alexys Puche made two saves in the cage during the last quarter.

The Titans will conclude the Barbara Kalbus Invitational in the 15th place game against the loser of the Biola-Pomona Pitzer on Sundat at 9:00 a.m. at the Anteater's Aquatic Complex.
