SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team lost 58-47 against the Cal Poly Mustangs on Thursday night at the Mott Athletics Center.
The Titans moved to 8-17 overall and 4-11 in conference play.
The Titans offense had a poor night after shooting 32% from the floor (19-for-59) while the Mustangs shot 51% (22-for-43). Â The Titans were outrebounded 40-to-24 but won the offensive board battle 13-to-11. Â The Titans forced 23 Cal Poly turnovers but only capitalized on those with 18 points. Â The Titans committed 14 turnovers and the Mustangs were able to convert those to 20 points. Â The Mustangs led the interior scoring with 30 points inside the paint compared to the Titans 20. The freshman duo of
Hope Hassmann (11 points, 6 assists) and
Eva Levingston (11 points, 4 rebounds) led the Titans offense for the game.
Gabi Vidmar started the scoring for the Titans in a back-and-forth first quarter. Â The Mustangs and Titans traded baskets for the first couple minutes before the Titans went on a 7-0 to take a 13-10 lead. Â

Ashlee Lewis snuffed out a play.
However the Mustangs scored six straight points before the period closed to lead 16-13. Â
Eva Levingston made a last second putback to make it a 1-point game at 16-15 as the game headed to the second quarter.
The Titans and Mustangs traded scoring blows to start off the second period. Â However, the Mustangs pulled away a little after going a 7-0 run during the final four minutes to take a 30-21 lead. Â
Hope Hassmann made a basket from the top of the key to close out the quarter and make it a seven point Mustang lead at halftime (30-23).
The Titans were outscored 15-to-10 in the third quarter.  The Mustangs stretched the lead to double figures with the Titans bringing it back down to 9 points a couple times before the Mustangs stretched it to 12 points with 2:45 left in the third quarter. Cal Poly increased their advantage to 14 at one point to take a 45-31 lead.
Hope Hassmann made two free throws before the period ended to make it a 45-33 game heading into the final quarter.
The Titans outscored the Mustangs 14-to-13 in the final frame for the first all game. Â After the Mustangs stretched the lead to 14 with 4:11 left.
Demonnie Lagway hit a three-pointer as the Titans slowly tried to chip back at the lead.
However, the Titans could only cut the lead to nine points before Cal Poly was able to seal off the game.
The Titans will remain on the road for their next match as they travel back down the coast to take on CSUN. Â Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Premier America Credit Union Arena.
