STANFORD, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton Baseball dropped the series finale to Stanford Sunday afternoon at Sunken Diamond by a final score of 4-1.Â
The Titans are now 2-1 on the year and leave Stanford with a series victory after sweeping the doubleheader Friday.Â
Colby Wallace gave the Titans the lead and only run of the game on a solo home run in the second inning. Wallace had two home runs in three games this weekend, surpassing his season total from last year.Â
Stanford took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a run-scoring triple followed by a wild pitch. The Cardinal extended their lead in the seventh on a two-run home run.
Freshman Chad Gurnea got the start on the mound for the Titans and allowed just two runs (one earned) on four hits in 4.1 innings pitched.Â
The Titans used five pitchers Sunday, all of which made their Titan debuts in Gurnea, Jason Krakoski, Aaron Ceniceros, Michael Flores and Derek Turner.Â
Fullerton is back in action Monday as the team stays in Northern California to face San Jose State. First pitch is slated for 2:05 p.m. PT.
