FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton Baseball dropped its home opener to Fresno State by final score of 8-0 Friday night at Goodwin Field. With the loss the Titans are now 2-2 on the year.Â
After a scoreless first inning, the Bulldogs plated two runs in the second, three runs in the third and two runs in the fourth inning to jump out to a commanding 7-0 lead. Fresno State went on to score one more run in the ninth to extend the lead to 8-0.Â
Christian Rodriguez drew the loss for the Titans, giving up seven runs on 10 hits in four innings of work while striking out six batters.Â
The Titans offense had its struggles as well, recording six hits on the night while hitting into five double plays, four of which were inning ending double plays.Â
Jason Blood was a bright spot for the Titans Friday night. Blood pitched 4.2 innings in relief and gave up just one run on three hits while walking one and striking out a career-high seven batters.Â
Fullerton looks to bounce back in game two of the series against Fresno State Saturday evening. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. PT.
