FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's water polo team lost 15-10 against the No. 7 Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday at the Titans Aquatic Center.
The Titans moved to 4-4 overall for the season.
Shyanne Rainey continued her fantastic week with two more goals against the Sun Devils. Â Rainey has tallied 12 goals for the week after scoring six against Biola and 4 against Toronto. Â
Faith Cuevas and
Eden Tal both had two goals apiece. Â
Madelyn Halva,
Destiny Hernandez,
Delaney Wilder, and
Lacey Hall each added a tally as well. Â
Annabelle Sherman made 12 saves in the cage for the Titans.
The Titans started from behind after the Sun Devils had a 2-0 lead in the first. Â
Shyanne Rainey scored the first goal for the Titans with 2:18 left to make it 2-1. Â
Faith Cuevas added a second goal for the Titans with 1:08 left. Â The Sun Devils led 4-2 after the first period.
In the second quarter, the Sun Devils scored the first two goals before
Eden Tal scored for the Titans to make it a 6-3 game. Tal scored again to make it 7-4 with 3:04 left. Â The Sun Devils added one to take an 8-4 lead into halftime.
Like the previous two quarters, the Sun Devils scored twice to start the period to open up a 10-4 lead. Â
Shyanne Rainey got her second goal of the game with 5:01 left to make it 10-5. Â
Delaney Wilder added a second goal for the Titans in the period with 3:13 left to make it an 11-6 game.
In the fourth quarter, the Titans flipped the script and scored twice to start the quarter. Â
Lacey Hall and
Madelyn Halva scored to bring the game within 3 goals at 11-8. Â However, ASU scored 3 goals to retake a 14-8 lead. Â The Titans would get two goals back from
Faith Cuevas and
Destiny Hernandez before the period ended.
The Titans will head to the Barbara Kalbus Invitational for the first time next weekend beginning with a matchup against No. 1 UCLA on Friday. The match is set to begin at 10 AM at UCI's Anteater Aquatics Complex
