Titans Close Out Non-Conference Play with Triple Digit Win over Bethesda

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule with a triple-digit 100-40 win over Bethesda on Sunday at Titan Gym.

The Titans scored over 100 points for the first time since December 9th, 2010 against Sacramento State where they won 100-74.  This was just the 13th time in program history that the Titans have scored 100 or more points and just the second time since the year 2000 that the Titans have reached triple figures.  

The Titans had 7 of 10 players reach double digits in scoring.  Aaliyah Stanton led the Titans with 18 points, Layla Davis had a career-high with 17 points, Madelynn Muniz scored a career-high 15 points, Jana Falsdottir had a career-high with 11 points, Emily Strachan had a career-high 11 points, Maddy Tauro had 11 points, and Aixchel Hernandez had 10 points and 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season and the sixth of her career.  The Titans shot a  season best 52.1% from the floor.  They outrebounded Bethesda 47-to-36 and forced 32 turnovers along with 18 steals that led to 37 points off turnovers.  

Bethesda scored the first basket of the game before the Titans went on a 18-5 run to finish out the first quarter.  The Titans had six steals in the first quarter which led to easy layups for the Titans.



The Titans outscored Bethesda 31-to-12 in the second quarter of the game.  Madelynn Muniz made three of her five treys during the second quarter.



Maddy Tauro scored 9 of her 11 points in the quarter capped off by an alley oop feed from Aaliyah Stanton.  



At halftime, the Titans led 49-to-19 over Bethesda.  

The Titans outscored Bethesda 21-to-8 in the third quarter.  Aaliyah Stanton started the second half with an alley oop of her own after finishing the play from Jana Falsdottir.



Jana Falsdottir scored 7 of her 11 points during the quarter against Bethesda.



The Titans led 70-to-27 after three quarters of play.  The Titans outscored Bethesda 30-to-13 during the final frame.  Layla Davis scored 12 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter after going 4-for-5 on the floor and 4-for-6 from the charity stripe.  

Madelynn Muniz hit a pair of treys in the fourth quarter as she shot a new career-high with 5-three pointers.  



The Titans closed out the win with Genna Wienecke hitting a corner trey to give the Titans 100 points for the first time in 14 years.



The Titans will resume Big West play on Thursday as they head to CSUN.  Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. against the Matadors at the Premier America Credit Union Arena
