IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball dropped three sets to UC Irvine (14-25, 11-25, 19-25) on Thursday night. The Titans stand 4-23 overall and 0-17 in Big West play.
The Titans recorded 27 kills, led by outside hitter
Laura Williams who collected nine kills across three sets.
Fullerton found themselves fighting from behind after an early 7-0 scoring run by UC Irvine. Momentum remained in favor of the Anteaters, who led the Titans 20-10 after another going on another 6-0 run.
Lyla Traylor, Williams, and
Ryleigh Garis all kept the Titans alive with a kill each before falling to the Anteaters, 25-14.
The Titans kept pace with the Anteaters in the third set, finding a match-high 10 kills on 33 total attacks. Traylor, who surpassed 240 kills on the season, evened the set at 1-1 on a kill assisted by Garis.
Bianca Martinez picked up a kill of her own to give the Titans an early 2-1 lead over the Anteaters, who responded with a 3-0 scoring run. The Titans brought the game within five points (19-14) on a service ace by Garis before UC Irvine took the set, 25-19, and match, 3-0.
The Titans return to Titan Gym for the final game of the 2024 season against the University of Hawaii at 6:00 p.m. Volleyball will be celebrating Senior Night prior to the first serve.
