Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

De la Torre Scores Late Equalizer to Earn a Draw Against CSUB

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's soccer scored a late equalizer to earn a 2-2 draw against CSU Bakersfield Saturday night at Titan Stadium. With the draw the Titans are 5-3-4 and 1-0-1 in Big West play.

Fullerton trailed 2-1 late in the game before freshman Jose de la Torre scored in the 83rd minute on an unbelievable shot with his left foot from 25-yards out. De la Torre has three goals this season and has scored in back-to-back games.

With the draw the Titans extend their unbeaten streak to nine games dating back to their win on Sept. 1 against Utah Tech.

CSU Bakersfield scored an early goal to take 1-0 lead, scoring in the sixth minute of action on a strike from Connor Mautino.

The Titans and Fitz Williams wasted little time getting back in the game, scoring in the 15th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Williams has been on a tear of late, scoring in each of the Titans last three games while adding an assist.

Fullerton controlled a majority of possession and created several quality scoring opportunities in the second half, however, the Roadrunners took a 2-1 lead in the 77th minute on their first shot of the second half.

The Titans had nearly 60 percent of possession throughout the match and out-shot CSU Bakersfield 26-5 including 18-2 in the second half.

Fullerton looks to get back in the win column Wednesday night against UC San Diego at Titan Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
