Titans Post Big Win at Home Over UC Riverside

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team defeated UC Riverside 4-0 at home on Thursday night at Titan Stadium.

The Titans improved to 4-7-2 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play.  The Titans now have seven points through their first four games of conference play.

The Titans scored their second highest output for the season with the four goals scored on Thursday over UC Riverside.  Isabella Cruz and Cayla Oliveira both scored their second goals of the season while Lauren Turner and Gracie Paton picked up their first career goals.

The game didn't have much action for the first twenty minutes of play as both sides were feeling each other out.  The Titans finally started getting the ball in UCR's third of the field midway through the first half.  After a couple shots by Isabella Cruz and Talei Moodie, the Titans finally found the breakthrough in the 30th minute.  Karla Rodriguez backheeled a ball to Sail Bozinovic inside the box.  Bozinovic was tugged on the play by a UCR defender but able to put the back back to Cruz who slotted it underneath the keeper's near post for her second goal of the season.

The Titans doubled the score right before the half ended.  After a foul on top of the box, Lauren Turner scored her first career goal after shooting it through the UCR wall on the free kick blast past the UCR keeper.

At the halftime break, the Titans were up 2-0 and outshooting the Highlanders 10-1 for the half.  The Titans kept their foot on the gas pedal coming out of the halftime break.

In the 48th minute, Cayla Oliveira stole a misplayed ball from a Highlander defender and shot it top bins past the UCR keeper to make it 3-0.

The Titans added their fourth goal in the 54th minute as Gracie Paton scored her first career goal.  Graci Raymond played one-two ball with Lauren Turner and Raymond took the ball down the left sideline and crossed it to Paton who one touched the ball into the net to make it a 4-0 game.

The Titans finished the game outshooting the Highlanders 22-to-5 with 10 shots on goal to the Highlanders 2 shots on goal.  The Titans have had back-to-back games with over 20 shot attempts after having 23 shots against Cal Poly.

The Titans will head to the University of Hawai'i on Sunday for their next match.  Kick-off is set for 4:00 PM local time and 7:00 Pacific Time.  There will be no live stream for the game and just live stats.
