FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball defeated the Concordia University Irvine Golden Eagles on Tuesday in a convincing 86-57 victory at Titan Gym on Tuesday night.
The Titans had five players reach double-digits in scoring led by
Eva Levingston (15 points),
Jana Falsdottir (15 points),
Demonnie Lagway (14 points),
Aaliyah Stanton (12 points), and
Aixchel Hernandez (10 points). Hernandez was a monster on the board as she hauled in 18 rebounds. Every Titan that played in the game scored at least one point as the Titans shot 53.8 % from the floor.
It was a pretty close game between both sides in the first quarter.Â

Aixchel Hernandez made baskets to put the Titans ahead 6-2. CUI took the lead before the Titans and Golden Eagles switched leads a couple times during the quarter.Â
Demonnie Lagway made a layup at 44 seconds left in the quarter to give the Titans a 22-20 lead after one.Â
In the second quarter, the Titans overwhelmed CUI and outscored them 28-to-12 for the period. After a two point basket from CUI that made it a 31-28 game with 6:56 left in the half, the Titans went on a 19-4 scoring run over the final seven minutes. The Titans back court of

Jana Falsdottir took control of the game by forcing multiple turnovers and creating multiple fast break opportunities. The Titans shot 73.3 % from floor in the second quarter on 11-for-15 shooting. Â
The Titans continued their dominance in the third quarter after pushing the lead to 30 points. The Titans outscored the Golden Eagles 21-to-10 for the period.Â
Demonnie Lagway scored 8 of her 14 points for the game in the period after going a perfect 4-for-4 during the quarter.Â
The Titans had their lowest scoring output in the fourth quarter after putting up 15 point on 33.3% shooting. However, the Titans defense held CUI to 21.4% shooting during the quarter. The Titans were able to play every available player in the fourth quarter including walk-on freshman
Samantha Schuler, who is also on the women's track and field team. Â
The Titans will begin the season officially next Monday at Pepperdine. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Firestone Fieldhouse. The Titans will then head on the road to New York City for two games against Fordham and Long Island University before their home opener against Sacramento State on November 14th. Â
