LA JOLLA, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball dropped their Friday night match to UC San Diego in four sets (22-25, 25-23, 19-25, 17-25). They are now 0-8 in conference and 4-13 overall. 

The Titans led the Tritons to a 9-8 lead before the Tritons responded with a 4-0 scoring run to take the lead, 12-9. Laura Williams launched a ball towards the back line of play that UC San Diego deflected to give the Titans a 15-13 lead. Aubrey Beaver tied the game at 19-19 with her fifth service ace of the season before taking a 21-19 lead. The Titans could not hold the lead, allowing the Tritons to take the final six of seven points for the set win, 25-22. 

Titans powered to a 15-11 in the second set, while hitting .350 during the run. UC San Diego put together four straight points coming off a media timeout to tie the game at 15-15. Fullerton beat the Tritons to 20 points on a kill by Lyla Traylor that was sent down the line. The Titans extended their lead to 24-19 before Ameena Campbell evened the match at 1-1 with a monster kill. Fullerton won the set, 25-23, ending a six set losing streak, dating back to 2022, against UC San Diego.

Fullerton fell to a 2-1 match deficit after dropping the third set, 19-25. As a team, the Titans posted nine kills on 30 attacking attempts, while making 10 attacking errors in the third game. 

The Titans opened the fourth set on a 4-0 scoring run highlighted by a kill by Traylor and three UCSD attacking errors. The Tritons responded with a 6-0 run and maintained the lead throughout the remainder of the set. Fullerton dropped the final set to the Triton, 17-25. 

The Titans head to the Pyramid at cross-town rival Long Beach State on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. match.
