Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

Ozbek Scores 100th Goal as Titans fall to No. 14 UC San Diego

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans men's water polo team lost 13-5 to No. 14 UC San Diego on Friday evening at the Canyonview Aquatic Center.

The Titans fell to 11-12 overall and 0-2 in Big West play for the season. The Titans had a frustrating day in the pool as they shot just .192 from the pool (5-for-26).

The Titans started the game slow after missing their first eight shots in the first quarter as the Tritons jumped to a 3-0 lead.

UCSD jumped to a 4-0 lead midway through the second quarter before the Titans finally got on the board.  Alec Isaacman scored on the Titans first powerplay of the game to make it 4-1.

The Titans were able to score two more goals in the period from Togan Ozbek on a powerplay and from Nico D'Angelo from distance that made it a 5-3 game with 28 seconds left in the half.

However, the Tritons scored on their ensuing possession and also scored after stealing the ball after the restart to take a 7-3 lead into halftime.

The Titans couldn't generate any offense in the third quarter and they missed five shots during the period.  The Tritons added two goals and led 9-3 after three quarters.

The Titans added two goals in the fourth quarter as Togan Ozbek netted his second and Julian Nichols also got a goal in the period.

After Ozbek's second goal of the game, he became the first Titan water polo player since the restart of the program to score 100 career goals for the Titans.

Garrett Henderson was credited with 9 saves for the game.

The Titans will return home for their next two games next weekend.  They host UC Davis on Friday, October 25th at 6:00 p.m.  They host Pepperdine for a non-conference contest at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
