Titans Fall in Conference Opener Against UC Santa Barbara

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans men's water polo team lost against No. 14 UC Santa Barbara 12-6 at home in their Big West conference opener on Saturday. 

The Titans fell to 11-11 overall for the season and 0-1 in conference play.  

Alec Isaacman led the Titans with three points after scoring two goals and tallying one assist.  Julian Nichols, Nico D'Angelo, Togan Ozbek, and Jacob Hatch all scored a goal a piece for the Titans as well.  Garrett Henderson made four saves in the cage for the Titans.

The Titans were the first time to score after Alec Isaacman scored at the 5:49 mark in the first quarter.



However, the Gauchos scored three straight goals before Togan Ozbek answered with one second left in the quarter.  Ozbek has now scored 98 career goals during his tenure as a Titan. 



After UCSB scored to start the second period, Nichols scored to make it a 4-3 game.  



The Gauchos would then score three more goals in the period along with Nico D'Angelo getting one back to make it a 7-4 game at the half.



The Gauchos added two more in the third and kept the Titans scoreless to take a 9-4 lead into the fourth quarter.

Isaacman opened the scoring in the fourth quarter to make it a 9-5 game.



However, the UC Santa Barbara would add three more goals in the period and Jacob Hatch got a late goal with 1:07 remaining. 



The Titans in their second season since the program was brought back are still searching for their first Big West Conference win.  The Titans will head to UC San Diego next Friday where they will take on the Tritons at 6:00 p.m.
