FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball remains in search of their first Big West win of the season after falling to UC Santa Barbara in four sets (23-25, 25-18, 28-25, 26-25), on Friday night. The Titans stand 4-11 overall and 0-5 in conference play. 

Lyla Traylor led all players in kills (15), while Ashley Chacon led the match with 18 digs. 

The Titans went on a 10-0 scoring run in the second set after dropping a close first set, 23-25, to take a 10-1 lead over the Gauchos. Traylor broke 20 points for the Titans on a kill assisted by Chacon that extended into a 24-15 lead. Santa Barbara the next three points on two kills and a Titan attacking error before Bianca Martinez smashed a kill set up by Ryleigh Garis that evened the match at 1-1. 

Fullerton found 17 kills between the third and fourth sets, contributing to their .157 hitting percentage. A 7-0 scoring run by UCSB in the third set put the Titans behind 21-15. Fullerton found two of the last four points, but trailed the match 2-1 after falling 18-25 in the third set. Traylor collected five of the seven Titan kills in the fourth set. The Titans fought to take three points at the end, but back-to-back attacking errors cost them the match point, 16-25. 

The Titans return to the court on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. as they host their sixth Big West opponent of the season.
