XC Men Finish Eighth, Women 14th at Bill Dellinger Invite

Men's team sets five new personal-bests led by Marco Perez, Bella Smith leads women in 6k

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Marco Perez and Bella Smith paced the Cal State Fullerton men's and women's cross country teams Friday morning at the Bill Dellinger Invite hosted by the University of Oregon. 

As a team, the men's team finished eighth overall with 231 points and five personal-best scores. 

Marco Perez led Fullerton's men's team for the second meet in a row, clocking a personal-best 23:31.9 in the 8k. Individually, Perez finished in 17th place. Talman Young placed 48th after running a new-best of 24:03.5. Luke Hitchcok recorded a personal-best (24:24.6) of his own to finish 63rd overall, while Nathaniel Avila (24:27.2) placed 69th. Jaden Wiley (24:31.4), JT McCoy (24:36.7), Jonathan Pfieffer (24:39.7), Justin Singer (24:50.5), and Logan Harris (25:57.4) completed the Titans scoring runners. 

The Titan women placed 14th overall with 358 points. 
 
Bella Smith (21:23.6) led the Titans 6k women's squad with a 56th place finish. Nanette Novak was the 71st runner to finish the race with 21:43.4 on the clock. Shandy Moore crossed the finish at the 22:02.4 mark to place 101st. Ashlynn Viramontes (22:09.9), Elena Martinez (22:24.8), Natalyn Membreno (23:16.1), Destiny Lopez (23:36.8), Natalie Maahs (23.41.8), and Sophia Ebiner (23:44.9) rounded out Fullerton's scoring finishers. 

Up next, the Titans return to UC Riverside for the second time this season to compete in the Highlander Invite on Saturday, Oct. 19, before hosting the John Elders Titan Classic on Friday, Oct. 25.
