FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton men's basketball dropped a home matchup with UC San Diego, 76-58, Saturday night at Titan Gym. The result moves the Titans to 8-8 on the season and 1-3 in Big West action. 

DJ Brewton led Fullerton with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting while Max Jones added 17 points, four steals and three assists. Donovan Oday contributed eight points for the Titans. 

Fullerton kept things tight with the Tritons throughout much of the first half, taking a 16-12 advantage midway through following layups from Oday, Beril Kabamba and Jones. A Brewton lay-in later brought the score to 24-21 for UCSD. But the Tritons closed the half on a 16-5 run to take a 40-26 lead into the locker room. 

Vincent Lee scored a pair of baskets in the paint early in the second half as the Titans trailed 46-32. Oday completed a three-point play later to cut Fullerton's deficit to 11, 53-42. Jones hit a triple with 4:50 to go to make it 68-53 for UCSD, but the Tritons kept their foot on the gas down the stretch and came away with the 76-58 win. 

Up next, the Titans travel to CSUN next Saturday, Jan. 13 to take on the Matadors. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. PT.
