FULLERTON, Calif. - In their final game of the opening weekend of the 2024 season, the Cal State Fullerton Titans women's water polo team were defeated by the No. 1 USC Trojans 16-3 at the Titans Aquatic Center.
Shyanne Rainey led the Titans with two goals for the game and
Kieran Scout Bates added another for the Titans.
Annabelle Sherman made six saves including stopping a 5-meter penalty shot for the Trojans.
The Trojans led 5-0 after the first period of play. Â
The second quarter was much more even and
Shyanne Rainey scored both of her goals in the period.
The Titans went into halftime trailing 8-2. The Trojans nearly doubled their lead in the third quarter after scoring six goals to take a 14-2 lead.
The Titans got one consolation goal back in the final period of play behind Kieran Scout Bate's long range effort.
The Titans will stay at home through next weekend when they host LMU and Cal Lutheran University in a mini triangle tournament.
