FULLERTON, Calif. - For the first time this season, the Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team overcame being down at halftime to secure the 68-62 win over CSUN on Saturday night at Titan Gym.
The Titans (6-9, 2-3 BWC) were trailing by three, 29-26 at halftime. Â The Titans outscored the Matadors 42-33 in the second half to earn the win over the Matadors (2-13, 0-5 BWC).
Gabi Vidmar led the Titans offense with 18 points, all from beyond the arc and set a new career-high with six three pointers in a single game. Â
Hope Hassmann had 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Â
Eva Levingston had 10 points off the bench along with 6 rebounds. Â The Titans shot 38.6% from the field and were 9-for-22 from the three point line. Â CSUN outshot the Titans 24-58 and outrebounded the Titans 39-to-34. Â However, the Titans had 5 less turnovers than the Matadors and scored 27 of their points off CSUN turnovers.
The Titans once again came out of the gates slow as they did not get their first basket until 5:31 on a
Kathryn Neff layup. Â
The Matadors took a 12-2 lead before
Hope Hassmann hit two three pointers to cut into the CSUN lead. Â The Matadors led 14-to-8 after the first quarter.
The Titans outscored CSUN 18-to-15 in the second quarter. Â After CSUN led by 10 with 6:54 left. Â The Titans went on an 8-1 run paced by Vidmar's first three of the game and
Aixchel Hernandez layup to cut the lead to 25-22.
The Titans got to within 1 point with 1:02 left in the quarter after
Eva Levingston drove and made a reverse layup from the right corner. Â
The Matadors responded with a basket of their own to take a 3-point lead into halftime.
The Titans kept up their recent theme of outplaying their opponents in the third quarter as they outscored CSUN 23-to-10 in the period to take the lead for the first time of the game. The Titans tied the game up at 7:48 after Vidmar hit her first three-pointer of the quarter to make it 31-31.
 CSUN regained the lead to make it 37-31 before the Titans came back. Â
Demonnie Lagway made a layup than Vidmar hit her second triple of the period to make it 37-37. Â
The Titans finished out the quarter on a 12-0 run. Â After
Eva Levingston made two free-throws to tie the game at 39-39. Â The Titans stole the inbounds play and Lagway made the layup. Â
The Titans forced another turnover in the backcourt which led to Vidmar's third triple of the game. Â Lagway made a fastbreak layup and Vidmar hit her fourth triple of the game to give the Titans a 10-point lead heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, CSUN chipped away at the lead in the beginning before Vidmar and
Kathryn Neff hit two 3-pointers to keep the lead at 9 points. Â However, with CSUN in the bonus, they were able to make it a 3-point game at 58-55 with 3:01 left in the game. Â
Eva Levingston hit two huge back-to-back jump shots to put the Titans up by seven (62-55) with 0:58 left.
 The Titans were able to nail their free throws down the stretch to secure their first win in three games. After only playing one game this week, the Titans will once again play two games next week.  They will take on UC Davis on the road on Thursday at 6 PM before returning home to take on UC Santa Barbara next Saturday at 6 PM
