Titans Fall in Four at UC Riverside

FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball fell to UC Riverside in four sets (25-20, 15-25, 21-25, 16-25) Thursday night on the road. The result moves the Titans to 1-21 on the season and 0-13 in Big West play. 

Lyla Traylor led Fullerton with 11 kills while Aubrey Beaver added eight to go with six digs. Nia Cummings added five kills and four blocks for the Titans. 

Fullerton jumped ahead 16-13 in the first set following a bump kill from Mya Tillman and Traylor. The Titans extended their lead to four, 20-16, after another Traylor kill. Back-to-back kills from Traylor and Campbell sealed the 25-20 set-one win for Fullerton. 

In the second, a kill by Laura Williams tied things at nine early. But the Highlanders knotted off a 14-4 run to go up 23-13 and went on to take the set, 25-15. 

After falling behind 19-13 in the third, aces by Beaver and Traylor brought the Titans within three, 20-17. A Williams kill and a UCR attack error cut Fullerton's deficit to two, 22-20, but the Highlanders went on to win the set 25-21. 

UCR jumped to a 17-10 advantage in the fourth before a Traylor kill and Leilani Lopez ace brought the score to 17-12. But the Highlanders went on to take the fourth, 25-16, and the match 25-16. 

Fullerton remains on the road to take on UC Davis Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1:00 p.m. PT.
