HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball team lost 56-48 against the University of Idaho Vandals on Friday afternoon at the Bank of Hawaii Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Titans move to 1-2 overall for the season.

Gabi Vidmar led the Titans offense with 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting along with 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.  Hope Hassman scored a new career-high with 16 points. However, after those two, the Titans only  got 13 points from the rest of the team.

The Titans shot 38% from the field and went 4-13 from beyond the arc.  The Vandals shot 35% from the field and made 7 three-pointers.  The Vandals outrebounded the Titans 33-to-25.

The Vandals led from the start of the game and after the first quarter, Idaho led 9-6.

The Titans got their first lead of the game with 8:07 in the second half after starting the second quarter on a 8-0 run.  Kathryn Neff nailed a 3-pointer right out of the break and Hope Hassman scored 5 points on a couple drives and free throws.  After being up by five in the second quarter the Titans went cold for the final 7:30 of the first half as the Vandals went on a 13-0 run to take a 22-14 lead into halftime.

Both sides traded baskets to start the third period before Idaho stretched their lead to 17 points with 4:02 left in the third.  The Titans went on a 10-2 run to finish out the quarter as Idaho led 39-30 after the end of the third period.

In the 4th quarter, the Vandals stretched their lead to 15 points at 7:33 left in the game.  However, the Titans battled back to get within 7 points multiple times in the period. However, the Titans could never overcome the Idaho gap to make it closer.

The Titans will take on the University of San Francisco on Sunday to wrap up play at the Bank of Hawaii Classic and their 4-game road trip to start the season.  Tip-off is set for 4:30 PM PST.
