Titans Rout La Sierra in Home Opener

FULLERTON, Calif. — In its first home contest of the regular season, Cal State Fullerton men's basketball routed La Sierra 78-48 Saturday night at Titan Gym. The win improves the Titans' overall record to 1-1.

Max Jones led the Titans with a Fullerton career-high 22 points on an efficient 8-of-12 shooting night from the floor. Jones also grabbed two rebounds, two steals and contributed two assists in 25 minutes of play.

Following Jones was DJ Brewton, who played a team-high 27 minutes while scoring 14 points on a 54.5 shooting clip from the floor. Brewton also contributed a team-high six assists while grabbing five rebounds. Donovan Oday rounded out the Titans' top offensive performers, scoring 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. 

In a matchup that saw the Titans dominate La Sierra on the glass 43-28, Grayson Carper grabbed a team-high eight boards while also scoring eight points. Fullerton also outscored the Golden Eagles 19-2 on the fast break and 38-14 in the paint. 

The Titans jumped out to a comfortable lead early, as a layup from Kabamba and a Brewton floater put the Titans up 20-12 midway through the period. Brewton found Oday for a baseline slam and Kabamba buried a three as Fullerton led 46-27 at the half. 

The Titans extended their lead to 29, 67-38, after an Oday lay-in and triple halfway through the second. Kabamba hit another trey and Jones had an and-one to later put Fullerton up 73-40. Oday got another transition bucket to fall as the Titans cruised to a 78-48 win. 

Next up, the Titans face Central Florida on the road next Thursday, Nov. 16, at 4:00 p.m. PT.
