Box Score FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton men's basketball fell 72-44 to Central Florida on the road Thursday night at Addition Financial Arena. The result moves the Titans' record to 1-2 on the season.
Grayson Carper led Fullerton on offense with a Titan career-high-tying 13 points, going 3-of-6 from three, and three rebounds. Vincent Lee scored 10 on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting night to go with four boards while DJ Brewton had eight points and four assists.
The Titans jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the contest, following a Lee lay-in and a Carper triple from the left wing. A pair of Max Jones free throws later brought the score to 16-13 with UCF on top, but a 15-5 Knight run put UCF up 31-18 at the half.
Lee scored three straight baskets in the paint on consecutive possessions and Brewton got a driving layup to fall as Fullerton cut its deficit to six, 32-26, early in the second half. But the Knights scored 15 unanswered to go up 46-27 with 13:26 to go.
Carper converted a four-point play later in the half and Lee scored again in the paint, but UCF went on to take the 72-44 win.
The Titans remain in Florida for the Jacksonville Classic Nov. 19-20 on the campus of Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. Fullerton will first take on Cornell on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 11:30 a.m. PT.
