STOCKTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's basketball lost 73-57 against the University of Pacific on Friday in their 2023-24 season opener at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
The Titans move to 30-25 all time in season openers.
Ashlee Lewis led the Titans with 15 points.
Demonnie Lagway had 10 points along with 4 assists. In her freshman debut,
Hope Hassmann had 10 points and 5 assists. Â The Tigers had four players in double digit scoring with Liz Smith leading all scorers with 16 points.
Pacific shot 50% from the field while the Titans only shot 33.3% from the field. The Titans actually forced 18 turnovers and had 14 offensive boards but only 6 second chance points.
The Titans were outscored by five points in both the first and second quarter as the Tigers took a 39-to-29 lead into the half.
In the third quarter, the Tigers started the third quarter on a 14-5 run to make it a 53-34 game. The Tigers outscored the Titans 27-to-17 in the third quarter to open up a 20-point lead. Â
Ashlee Lewis scored 13 points in the third for the Titans in the third quarter.
The Titans outscored the Tigers 11-to-7 in the fourth quarter but couldn't overcome the 20 point deficit from before.
The Titans will remain on the road in Northern California when they take on Sacramento State on Sunday. Â Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm against the Hornets.
