BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's soccer defeated Cal State Bakersfield, 2-1, Saturday night on the road to improve to 10-2-2 on the year and 4-0 in Big West play.Â
After defeating the No. 2 team in the conference, the Titans remain atop of The Big West table with 12 points. Fullerton is five points ahead of second place Bakersfield and Santa Barbara while remaining the only unbeaten team in conference play.Â
With the win, the Titans extended their winning-streak to eight straight games and unbeaten streak to 11 games, the longest unbeaten streak in the history of the program.Â
The Titans got off to a strong start, dominating play throughout the entire first half. Sulaiman Bah put the Titans ahead in the 23rd minute on assists from Julian Varela and Mario Carlos.Â
Just a few minutes later, Jorge Quintero put the Titans up 2-0 in the 29th minute off a great pass from Erick Serrano.Â
Bakersfield came out of the locker room at halftime on the attack, looking to get back in the game. The Roadrunners broke through early in the half, scoring in the 52nd minute on a goal by Jesse Wangusi.Â
The Titans did a tremendous job of stifling the Bakersfield attack from that point forward to maintain the lead and secure the three points on the road.Â
After two road games this week, Fullerton is back at the friendly confines of Titan Stadium Wednesday night to host UC Irvine. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PT.
