FULLERTON, Calif. — Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball fell in straight sets (21-25, 19-25, 23-25) to UC Irvine Tuesday evening at Titan Gym. The loss drops the Titans to 1-13 on the season and 0-5 in Big West play. 

Aubrey Beaver paced Fullerton with a team-best 13 kills on a .458 clip, also adding six digs, three blocks and an ace. Ameena Campbell pitched in 12 kills and five digs while Laura Williams had five kills and a pair of digs. Ryleigh Garis notched 33 assists, three digs and two kills. 

After falling behind 12-7 in the first set, Fullerton fought back to tie the game at 14 following kills by Beaver, Martinez and a Nadia Koanui service ace. The Titans later took the lead at 21-19 with back-to-back kills by Beaver and a Garis-Martinez block. The Anteaters, though, scored the next six points to take the opening set, 25-21. 

Teams traded points to start the second game, with a Fasavalu kill followed by a setter's dump by Garis tying things up at 8-8. But UC Irvine later jumped to a 21-14 advantage. Martinez and Beaver posted kills late in the set, but the Anteaters came away with the 25-19 set two win. 

The Titans pounced to a 13-9 lead in the third frame following another kill from Beaver. But UC Irvine scored six straight later in the set to take an 18-15 lead. Fullerton kept things close, with back-to-back kills from Beaver closing its deficit at 23-22. Another kill from Beaver staved off UC Irvine's first match-point opportunity. But the Anteaters closed the match with a kill, winning set three, 25-23.

Fullerton now travels to Hawaii to take on the Rainbow Wahine on Friday, Oct. 6. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. PT.
