Ranson Repeats as Defensive Player of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. - Mia Ranson of the Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team repeated as The Big West Defensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday.

The redshirt sophomore won her third defensive player of the week award for the current season and the sixth player of the week honor in her career.

Ranson was stellar in goal on Sunday as she made five saves against one of the better attacking sides in the conference in UC Davis.  Ranson and her defensive unit have kept three consecutive shutouts in a row and have not allowed a goal in their past 294 minutes which ranks as one of the twelfth best shutout marks in program history and Ranson now has the ninth best scoreless period in the record book.

Ranson ranks first in Goals Against Average (1.063), Save Percentage (.828), and Shutouts (6).  The Titans defense is tied for second with the fewest allowed goals of 18.  However, UC Davis (17) and Cal Poly (18) have played two less games than the Titans.

The Titans are currently second in the Big West Table with 15 points behind Cal Poly who has 16 points and a game in hand. The Titans have won three games in a row and have gotten either a point or three points in every conference game since dropping the conference opener at UC Riverside.  The Titans will play their final home game of the regular season on Sunday against Long Beach State. Kick-off is slated for 5:00 p.m.
