Vanessa Williams will serve as the Titans' administrativeassistant in 2012 and will handle numerous behind-the-scenes tasksdealing with travel, community service, on-campus recruiting tripsand statistics.
She joins Head Coach Carolyn Zimmerman's staff following a10-month stint (Aug. 2010 to May 2011) with the Brondby VolleyballKlub (Brondby, Denmark) as a professional volleyball player.
While competing overseas, she also served as a team ambassador,making community appearances and mentoring 11- to 14-year oldgirls.
As the team's middle blocker, Williams helped lead Brondby to afirst-place finish in its league as well as a gold medal finish inthe playoffs. She finished first in the league in serving, blockingand hitting en route to receiving the Time Vision Player of theYear Award.
In 2009, Williams moved from playing with Cal Poly Pomona to thecoaching ranks. She served as Head Coach Rosie Wegrich's volunteerassistant, helping tutor the Bronco middle blockers.
She has been coaching at the club level since graduating fromRubidoux High School (Riverside, Calif.) in 2005, but has mostrecently served as a coach and administrative assistant at the SanGabriel Elite Volleyball Club (Pasadena, Calif.) since 2008.
Williams was a four-year letterwinner at Cal Poly Pomona from2005-2008 for Coach Wegrich and her staff (which included currentTitan Assistant Coach Vinh Nguyen).
She earned All-American status in 2008 as a senior while helpingthe Broncos to a 20-8 overall record and a national Top 25 finish.It was the most successful season Cal Poly Pomona has seen in over10 years and ended in the NCAA (Div. II) Pacific RegionalFinal.
Williams, 24, graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 2009 with adegree in English literature and language.
She currently resides in Riverside, Calif.
