Taja Edwards, a native of Carson, Calif., comes to Cal StateFullerton and joins Daron Park's staff after spending the previousyear as an assistant women's basketball coach at Ole Miss.

"Taja is an outstanding individual with a bright future inwomen's basketball," said Park. "I knew her at Fresno State and Iam confident that her passion, commitment, and knowledge of thegame will be a huge help for our student athletes."

Edwards is also the founder, coach, and director of operationsfor the Cal Sparks Extreme, based in Fresno, Calif. It was foundedin 2011 and serves as a non-profit organization geared towardshelping young girls experience the love of playing basketball.

As a player, Edwards was a four-year letterwinner at FresnoState where she won four Western Athletic Conference titles and wasa part of four NCAA Tournament appearances.

While at Fresno State, she also completed an internship with theexternal media relations department and served as a media escort atthe 2012 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament for the Sweet 16 andElite 8 rounds.

She also served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee VicePresident in 2010 and earned her bachelor's degree incommunications in the spring of 2011.
