Brennan began his coaching career in 2004 at his alma mater, Loara High School in Anaheim, California, where he was a two-sport All-League performer in basketball and baseball.
After two seasons, he joined the Cypress College men’s basketball staff, overseeing recruiting, player development, and the program’s offensive philosophy. During his three seasons with the Chargers, the team’s scoring average improved from 62.1 points per game to 83.1 points per game. He later spent the 2010–11 season as an assistant coach at Fullerton College under head coach Andre Smith.

Brennan returned to the high school ranks as Player Development Coach at Mater Dei High School under legendary head coach Kevin Kiernan. During his three seasons with the Monarchs, Mater Dei captured backto-back CIF Southern Section Open Division Championships while Brennan helped develop numerous future NCAA Division I student-athletes, McDonald’s All-Americans, and professional players.
In 2021, Brennan joined Fairmont San Juan Capistrano as the founding Head Boys Basketball Coach while helping launch the school’s Basketball Academy. After an inaugural 1–24 season, he guided the Warriors to a 16–12 record, a league championship, and a CIF playoff berth in year two, earning League Coach of the Year honors. He currently serves as the Director and Lead Coach of the Fairmont Girls Basketball Academy.
During the 2021 season, Brennan also completed his final year as Player Development Coach at Mater Dei before joining the Orange Coast College women’s basketball staff in 2023 as Player Development Coach. During his three seasons with the Pirates, the program made three consecutive CCCAA playoff appearances, advanced to two CCCAA State Championship games, and captured the 2024 CCCAA State Championship.
