Ryan Day

Day begins his second season with the Titans, moving into the full-time third assistant coach position, after spending his first year as the assistant to baseball operations. He comes to Cal State Fullerton after spending five years at Long Beach State. While at Long Beach, Ryan was the Director of Baseball Operations from 2018-2020, before transitioning into the Volunteer Assistant position in 2021.

In that position, Day was responsible for working with the catchers, as well as coordinating prospect and youth camps, coaching first base, and assisting with the hitters and the pitchers.

Day helped guide Connor Burns to being the back-to-back Big West Defensive Player of the Year (2022, 2023). The sophomore was the first winner of the award since 2017 and just third in program history. He was also named a finalist for the Rawlings/Gold Glove Award in back-to-back seasons (2022 & 2023), as well as being named to the Buster Posey Award watch list in 2023. Burns went on to be drafted in the fifth round by the Cincinnati Reds.

Ryan went to Long Beach State from his alma mater, Concordia University in Irvine, where he spent six seasons as a coach and worked alongside former Titans Alumni, Joe Turgeon and Matthew Fahey. He served as the pitching coach, the assistant recruiting coordinator, camp coordinator, and alumni coordinator. During his time with the Eagles, he spent two seasons coaching in the Northwoods League with the Mankato Moondogs, as the assistant coach and field manager.

Day played two seasons with the Eagles, as an Outfielder/Pitcher, before serving as the teams closer in his senior season en route to the program’s first ever NAIA National Championship in 2011. The Eagles coaching staff that year included former Titan Alumni; Joe Turgeon, Matthew Fahey, & Mike Martinez. Prior to his time at Concordia, Day was a catcher and outfielder at Fullerton Junior College, under head coach Nick Fuscardo.

Throughout his coaching career, Day has helped mentor 30 players who have gone on to get drafted or sign professional baseball contracts. While at Concordia, Day was instrumental in the recruitment of the All-Time Homerun Leader Bailey Collins (35), and the single season saves leader Tyler Mark (24), who would go on to be drafted in the sixth round by the Arizona Diamondbacks. While at Long Beach, Day helped recruit 2021 Collegiate Baseball First Team All-American, Johnathan Lavallee, who would go on to be drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 16th round.

Day grew up in Fullerton, Calif. and attended Fullerton High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communications in 2011 at Concordia University Irvine, and went on to earn his Master’s in Coaching & Athletic Administration from Concordia in 2014.
