Dan Benedetti is in his first year as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at California State Fullerton, joining the coaching staff in August of 2021.
“I am humbled and excited to become part of the Titans Family coaching beside Jason Dietrich, Neil Walton and Josh Bevlosky at a college program deep in winning traditions, alumni following, fan support and success on and off the field,” Benedetti said.
A former collegiate catcher, Benedetti has coached at the collegiate, collegiate summer league, high school and youth levels.
Prior to joining the Titans Staff, Benedetti coached at San Diego State University where they were Mountain West Champions and made a Regional appearance in Corvallis, Oregon; Manhattan College-New York who competed in the MAAC Conference Tournament; St. John’s University-New York who were the 2015 Big East Champions and made an appearance at the Stillwater Oklahoma Regional with 9 players being drafted by the MLB First-Year player draft working under the ABCA Hall of Fame Coach Ed Blankmeyer, and California State University Long Beach as a graduate assistant.
Benedetti has also served as a Head Coach/Field Manager for the Thunder Bay Border Cats, Assistant Coach-Pitching for the Border Cats, Assistant Coach-Hitting for the Alexandria Beetles who held the hitting title for 2012 in the Northwoods Collegiate Summer Baseball League and Head Coach for the Sag Harbor Whalers of the Hampton Collegiate Summer League leading them to a co-championship in 2014 while also managing the South All-Star team.
A standout on the field, he played two years at St. John’s University-New York after transferring from Irvine Valley College. While at St. John’s, Benedetti earned back-to-back All-Big East accolades, Big East/Big Ten Tournament First Team recognition and helped the Redstorm to the 2008 Big East Tournament Championship and a berth in the Houston Regional.
Benedetti contributed to St. John’s success by batting an overall average of .332 with 1 homerun, 18 doubles and 50 RBI, a .392 on-base percentage and throwing out 45.3 percent of the potential base stealers. Benedetti was also named to the prestigious Coleman Company Johnny Bench Award Watch List for catchers.
During the summers of 2007 and 2008 Benedetti played for the Thunder Bay Border Cats in the Northwood’s Summer Collegiate Wood Bat League, recognized as a mid and post season All-Star, was part of the 2008 NWL Championship Team and was awarded the first NWL Rawlings Offensive Player Award at catcher in 2007.
At Irvine College, Benedetti batted .345 and caught 58.6 percent of base stealers where he was coached by Dietrich and Madole.
Benedetti is a native Californian where he attended Los Alamitos High School, graduated with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University Long Beach in 2013, a Bachelor’s Degree from St. John’s University-New York in 2009 and an Associate of Arts Degree from Irvine Valley College in 2007.
