Leanna Garcia Throws Five-Inning No-Hitter, Titans Sweep UC Riverside

Jenica Silvas led the offense, going 2-for-2 with a two-run home run and four RBI

FULLERTON, Calif. – Leanna Garcia pitched her first career no-hitter, and Jenica Silvas hit her first collegiate home run in Cal State Fullerton's 15-1, five-inning, series-clinching victory over UC Riverside on Friday night at Anderson Family Field. The Titans improved to 27-12 overall and 16-2 in Big West play.Ā 

Garcia (6-0) allowed the Highlanders to score one run on a walk in the first inning, issuing seven walks and striking out seven over five innings in the circle. She is the first Titan to record a no-hitter since Haley Rainey in 2024 and the first to do so in five innings since Myka Sutherlin in 2023.Ā

Fullerton finished with a season-high 15 runs on 18 hits in the game. Silvas led the offense, going 2-for-2 with a two-run home run and four RBI.Ā 

The Titans broke the game open in the first inning, answering with nine runs on 10 hits and two UC Riverside errors. Sarah Coccillos (2-for-2, 2 R, 2 RBI, SF) started the scoring with a single through the left side.Ā 

Fullerton added two runs in the second inning, one in the third and three in the fourth to finish with a 14-run lead. Silvas scored Kate Vehoef (2-for-2, 3 R, 2 RBI, SB) with a single in the second, while Ava Arce drove in pinch hitter Madison Sanchez with a double in the third. Arce went 2-for-2 at the plate with a run scored and two RBI.Ā

Annika Sogsti extended Fullerton's lead to 14-1 in the fourth with a double under UC Riverside's diving left fielder. Silvas followed by smashing her first collegiate home run over the left field wall to score Verhoef.Ā

The Titans visit the University of San Diego on Tuesday at 5 p.m. before traveling to Cal State Bakersfield for a three-game series April 18-19.Ā
