Henderson, Nev. – From being predicted to finish last in the conference to making it all the way to the semifinals game in the Big West Tournament, the Titans battled and shocked the conference. Fullerton fell in a 78-63 game against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on Friday.
The Titans scored first before the Rainbow Warriors went on a 10-0 run, taking an eight-point lead at the 17-minute mark. CSF and Hawai'i stayed within reach of each other before Hawai'i broke out with an 11-point lead just before the half. Fullerton scored to take it down to double digits, but Hawai'i still lead 29-21 at the end of the first half.
Christian Williams led the team with six points in the first half along with two rebounds and a steal. The Titans forced Hawai'i to eight turnovers and tallied eight points from those turnovers. Fullerton shot a higher field goal percentage at 33% compared to Hawai'i's 31% field goal percentage.
In the second half, Hawai'i held the lead for all but 45 seconds in the second half. After the Titans cut the lead down to one with seven minutes left to play, the Rainbow Warriors went on a nine-point run to take an eventual 11-point lead that would lead Hawai'i to the Championship game.
Williams tacked on another 15 points in the second half, leading the team with a total 21 points on the night. The freshman also tallied three rebounds, an assist and three steals. The Titans shot a 35% field goal percentage, 31% from beyond the three-point line and 70% at the free throw line.
Dedrique Taylor and the Titans will gear up and prepare for another impressive season next year.
