CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton softball team fell 6-3 to No. 3 Texas Tech and 2-1 to Auburn on the final day of the 2026 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Titans moved to 6-9 on the season, finishing the weekend with a 2-3 record.Â

No. 3 Texas Tech worked to a 4-0 advantage in the top of the third inning on a sacrifice fly and a three-run home run to center field. The Titans answered with a run in the bottom half, scoring on a double by
Colby McClinton (2-for-4, 2B, R, RBI, SB).Â
Alexia Lopez (1-for-2, RBI, BB) added to the rally with an RBI single up the middle that scored McClinton before
Sarah Coccillos (1-for-3, HR, R, RBI) cut Fullerton's deficit to 4-3 with her team-leading third home run. Together, McClinton (14 RBI), Coccillos (10 RBI), and Lopez (9 RBI) lead the team in RBI, slugging and total bases. Â
Fullerton's bats cooled off after the third inning, finding just two hits in the final four innings off Texas Tech's Kaitlyn Terry and Nijaree Canady. The Red Raiders found a rally of their own in the fifth, piecing together a run on two hits and a fielder's choice for a 5-3 lead. Texas Tech added a sixth run to the board in the seventh for a 6-3 lead that the Titans could not defend from the box.Â
Eva Hurtado (2-3) allowed five runs, four of which were earned, on five hits and two walks. She earned one strikeout through 5.1 innings of work.
Leanna Garcia gave up two hits, a walk, and an earned run in 1.2 innings of relief.Â
Auburn 2, Cal State Fullerton 1
Auburn took a 1-0 lead over the Titans in the fourth inning after McCleskey did not allow a hit through three frames. The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the sixth on a home run to left field, but
Ava Arce answered with her first home run of the year to cut Fullerton's deficit to 2-1 in the seventh.Â
McCleskey pitched her fifth complete game of the season, holding the Tigers to four hits with four strikeouts.Â
The Titans return home to host the 20th Judi Garman Classic from Feb. 26 to March 1. Fullerton is scheduled to face BYU on Thursday at noon before closing nonconference play with matchups against Oregon State (Friday), Cal (Saturday), and Seattle U and LMU (Sunday).Â
