Box Score CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton softball team defeated No. 16 Oregon 7-3 in the teams' third matchup of the 2026 season Friday night at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Titans earned their second upset of the year and improved to 6-7 overall.
Friday night's starting pitcher,
Eva Hurtado (2-1), pitched four scoreless innings with three hits, three walks and four strikeouts. She got out of a jam with Ducks occupying each base in the third inning with a strikeout and a ground ball hit to
Sarah Perez at shortstop.
Fullerton's offense exploded in the bottom of the third as
Colby McClinton (single) and
Alexia Lopez (home run) drove in a pair of runs each for a 4-0 lead. Lopez's first collegiate home run came as a two-run blast to center field in Thursday night's win over Rutgers.
Nataly Lozano sent her first home run ball to left field for a 5-0 lead, marking her third RBI of the season. In 2025, Lozano slugged .583 with seven home runs and 44 RBI.
Oregon drew four consecutive walks in the fifth inning to drive in its first run before cutting Fullerton's lead to 5-3 on a sacrifice fly and base hit. During this run, the Ducks faced lefty
Leanna Garcia and
Trisha McCleskey.
McCleskey quickly shut the Ducks down in the sixth inning, bringing Fullerton back to the plate.
Jenna Stevens plated two runs off the bench in the sixth after Lozano (walk) and
Maggie Paulovich (single) advanced into scoring position on a passed ball. McCleskey secured the 7-3 win for the Titans, holding the Ducks to one hit in the final three innings.
The Titans close out the weekend on Saturday against No. 3 Texas Tech at noon and Auburn at 2:30 p.m.
