Riverside, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton Titans battled at UC Riverside but fell short due to small mistakes. Three Titans tallied double digits on Saturday in the 72-81 loss at UC Riverside.

Landon Seaman was the first to put points on the board for Fullerton, but the Highlanders got a hold of a lead and held onto it through the entire first half. The Highlanders tacked on points, taking a 14-point lead, their highest of the half at the 8:41 mark. CSF was unable to make a comeback, trailing 34-43 going into halftime. De La Cruz Monegro led the team with eight points and four rebounds.

The Titans shot 31% from the floor and only 11% from the three-point line. Both Fullerton and Riverside tallied 14 points from turnovers, but the Titans only had five while forcing the Highlanders to eight.

Fullerton opened the second half with a seven-point run, cutting the Highlanders down to just a two-point lead in the first three minutes before UCR would go on to take their largest lead of the game at 64-47. From there, the Titans were unable to get their game together, falling to the Highlanders by a score of 81-72

Fullerton shot 47% in the second half, but still struggled behind the arc, shooting 25%. Both sides struggled with ball control in the second half, each recording nine steals.

De La Cruz Monegro led the team with 17 points on the night while
Jaden Henderson and
Joshua Ward both had double digits against the Highlanders.

The Titans are back at home on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. when Long Beach comes to Titan Gym for a long-time rivalry.
