FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton Athletics will induct the 2023 Hall of Fame Class on Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Embassy Suites in Brea. Leading up to the event we will unveil each of our prestigious honorees on FullertonTitans.com. Today we honor the 1977-78 men's basketball team. 

Under head coach Bobby Dye, the Titans captured national attention with their remarkable postseason run. After compiling a 23–9 overall record, Fullerton defeated Long Beach State in the PCAA Championship game to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Titans went on to upset New Mexico and San Francisco to advance to the Elite Eight. 

In the Elite Eight, the Titans put forth a valiant effort against Arkansas but ultimately came up short by a score of 61-58. 

The Titans' journey remains the deepest NCAA Tournament run in program history and established the team as one of the great Cinderella stories of college basketball.
