TULSA, Okla. – Cal State Fullerton men's soccer hung on with 10 players for the final 40 minutes of action to secure a 1-0 victory at Tulsa Sunday night.
The Titans come back from their two-game road trip in Oklahoma with a 1-0-1 record.
Fullerton played the final 40 minutes with 10 men after Julian Borja was sent off with a red card in the 50th minute. Borja was initially given a yellow card but after VAR the official changed the decision to a red card.
The Titans flipped the script from its season opener, getting on the board early in the first half. Fitz Williams gave the Titans a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute on an unbelievable goal created on his own.
Fullerton was the aggressor for a majority of the first half, with eight shots to Tulsa's five while also controlling a large portion of the possession time.
Goalkeeper Asger Hemmer and the Titans defense stifled Tulsa's attack for the final 40 minutes to secure the win. Hemmer finished the game with four saves while the defense only allowed six shots in the second half even while playing a man down.
The Titans return to Southern California to face UCLA Thursday night on the road. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
