Coccillos Walks It Off as Titans Edge LMU 2-1 in Extras

Sarah Coccillos (2-for-4, 2 2B, R, RBI) calls game in eighth inning to extend win streak to 11 games

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton softball team recorded their third walk off victory in the last four games in a 2-1 extra-inning win over Loyola Marymount on Tuesday night. The Titans extended their win streak to 11 games, improving to 31-14 on the season.

Sarah Coccillos earned Player of the Game honors after contributing to both Titan runs. Coccillos led off the second inning with a double, scoring the first run of the day on a throwing error by LMU's pitcher.

The game turned into a pitcher's duel for the next three frames before LMU tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth inning on a solo shot just inside the foul pole in left field.

The Titans stranded two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, sending the game into extra innings. Coccillos called game in the bottom of the eighth inning, hitting her second double of the day into center field. Briona Ferdman, who ran for Alexia Lopez (hit by pitch), sprinted around the diamond from first base to avoid the tag at home plate.

Trisha McCleskey (3.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 4 K) collected her 13th win of the season, after entering in the fifth inning in relief of Leanna Garcia (2.2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K) and Eva Hurtado (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 K). As a staff, the Titans held the Lions to one run off four hits, while retiring nine batters on strikes.

The Titans travel inland to UC Riverside, where they will resume conference play with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m. The series will wrap up on Sunday with first pitch slated for 1:00 p.m.
