FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's tennis team defeated UC Riverside 6-1 at home to close out the regular season. 

The Titans head into the Big West Championship with a 10-9 overall and a 4-5 record in conference play. The Titans are locked into either the 6th or 7th position in the final standings where they will play in the No. 6 vs No. 7 match in the first round on Thursday.

The Titans took a 1-0 lead after dominating in doubles.  Kaytlin Taylor and Seha Yu won 6-0 in the No. 2 doubles spot while the No. 1 pairing of Sein Myoung/Milena Gevorgyan and the No. 3 pairing of Mariia Nikitash/Diana Yanotovskaya finished simultaneously with both a 6-2 win to give the Titans the doubles point.

In singles, Carrington Hayes picked up the win in the No. 6 spot (6-2, 6-0) dropping just two games against her opponent.  Seha Yu made it 3-0 after also just dropping two games, 6-2, 6-0.  Mariia Nikitash sealed the match for the Titans after winning 6-2, 6-2 in No. 4 singles. Sein Myoung completed a perfect 9-0 run in the No. 1 singles spot in conference play after winning 7-5, 6-1.

The Highlanders got a point in the No. 3 singles spot after Kei Kato defeated Diana Yanotovskatya 6-2, 6-4.  Kaytlin Taylor completed her final day on the Titan Courts with a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) win in No. 5 singles to make it a 6-1 match for the Titans.

The Titans honored two four year seniors in Mariia Nikitash and Kaytlin Taylor in a pregame ceremony. 

The Titans will return to action on Thursday, April 24th in the first round of the Big West Championship as either the No. 6 or No. 7 seed. Their match will start at 10:00 a.m.
