Box Score 2 FULLERTON, Calif. ā The Cal State Fullerton softball team defeated UC Davis in a 12-inning battle (4-3) before run-ruling the Aggies 11-0 to secure the series win on Friday night at Anderson Family Field. The Titans improve to 29-14 overall and lead The Big West with a 15-5 conference record.Ā

With the game knotted at 3-3 through regulation, both teams leaned on their pitchers and defense.
Nataly Lozano's first hit of the day ended a four-hour showdown in walk-off fashion, driving in
Kate Verhoef from first base.Ā
Kate Verhoef led Fullerton's offense with three hits, scoring twice, while
Sarah Perez (2-for-6, 2 RBI) and Lozano each drove in runs.
Alexia Lopez also doubled and scored, anchoring the Titans both behind the plate and in the batter's box.
Trisha McCleskey tossed 7.0 innings, striking out a career-high eight batters while allowing three earned runs.
Leanna Garcia entered in relief for McCleskey in the top of the eighth inning, delivering 5.0 shutout innings with eight strikeouts to earn the series-opening win, 4-3.Ā
This marked the first time the Titans saw 12 innings of softball, dating back to their 2-1 conference win at CSUN on April 7, 2024.Ā

The Titans sent 14 batters to the plate in the opening frame, knocking the Aggies starter out of the game after just one out.Ā
Ava Arce wasted no time in riding the momentum, plating two runs for the Titans in the bottom of the first inning with a base hit. The Titans plated nine more runs on 13 hits for an early 11-0 lead in the first frame, highlighted by a multi-run home run by
Sarah Coccillos.Ā
Kristalyn Romulo (2-for-3, 3B, 3 RBI, 2 R) drove in a career-high three runs for the Titans. Romulo, Arce and Coccillos each recorded two hits in the first inning after batting around the order.Ā
Garcia started the second game, pitching a one-hit shutout victory over five innings of work. She added seven strikeouts to her stat line, for a total of 15 K on the day.Ā
Fullerton swept the Friday doubleheader after a 12-inning win earlier in the day and will go for the series sweep in Saturday's finale. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.Ā
