FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 game to No. 68 Long Beach State on Saturday afternoon at the Titan Courts.
The Titans fell to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in Big West play for the season.  The Titans closed out a 5-game home stand going 3-2.
The Titans once again dropped the double points but this time the No.1 pairing of
Sein Myoung/
Milena Gevorgyan were the only side to win a match by going 6-2.
In singles, the Titans started well before Long Beach put their foot on the gas pedal against the Titans. Â They jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the match after Pamela Badillo defeated
Milena Gevorgyan 6-1, 6-3 in No. 5 singles and Thea Jagare defeated
Diana Yanotovskaya 6-1, 6-2 in No. 3 singles. Â They sealed the match after Cecilia Costa defeated
Seha Yu 6-4, 6-4 in No. 2 singles. Â In No. 6 singles, they played a best of 10 in the third set after both
Kaytlin Taylor and Daisy Carpenter each won a set. Carpenter prevailed over Taylor 10-8 in the final frame to give Long Beach a 5-0 lead. Â
Mariia Nikitash fell 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in No. 4 singles to give the Beach a 6-0 lead in the Titans. In No. 1 singles,
Sein Myoung prevented the Long Beach sweep after winning in three sets. Â Myoung won 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 to get the Titans at least one point against the Beach.
After being home for most of March, the Titans will now embark on a four-game road trip. Â The Titans will spend next weekend at CSUN (Saturday) and UC Irvine (Sunday).
